Welcome to the 2025-2026 season!

Saturday / Sunday September 6 and 7

SEE YOU AT THE FAIR!

Come and visit us at our booth at the Fall Fair. A good time to register for our new season and meet those volunteers who are manning the booth.

Tuesday, September 16th

Kick Off the season at our Annual Blackberry Festival. Meet at the picnic area of Ruckle Park at 12 noon – bring your lunch as well as a bowl and a spoon for some blackberry treats! If you wish, feel free to bring along any blackberry treats to share with the group. This would also be a good chance for you to pay your annual dues if you have not already done so.

HIKE – Blackberry festival; Hikers meet at the lower parking area for a short hike before returning for blackberries and ice cream.  Meet at Art Spring to car pool, departing at 9:40 or gather at the lower parking area to designate a leader and to set out just after 10:00.  Return to the day use area just before noon.

WALK – Blackberry festival; Walkers meet at the lower parking area for a short hike before returning for blackberries and ice cream.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 9:40 or gather at the lower parking area at 10:00 am to choose your leader for a short walk.  Return to the day use picnic area  for lunch (where we had the strawberries) just before noon.  Remember your bowl and spoon, and garden.  Bring berries or treat if you can.

Sunday, September 21st

HIKE – First full hike of the season, Ruckle Park.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00,  or at the parking area at the park entrance to set out at 1:20.  We will go via Hilltop, Big Doug, Kings Cove, Coppermine Point.

Tuesday, September 23rd

HIKE – .Bob Keates will lead a hike in Channel Ridge. Meet at Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 9:45, or at the parking area on Sunset Drive about 100 yards south of West Eagle, to set out at 10:00.

WALK – Barb will lead a pleasant walk from Little Mountain Road to the Welbury Bay trails and lunch on Scott Point. Carpool from ArtSpring departing at 10:00 am. Driving directions:  From Long Harbour Road turn left onto Quebec Drive, then after 600 metres turn right to stay on Quebec Drive. In 250 m turn right onto Quebec Lane. Keep right onto Little Mountain Lane. Park near 195 Little Mountain Road (Lea’s cottage) where Barb will meet us.

RAMBLE – Joy will lead a walk at Duck Creek with the Ramblers. Meet at ArtSpring @10:00 if you would like to carpool or meet at Duck Creek on the Sunset side @ 10:30. Bring your lunch.

Sunday, September 28th

HIKE – Channel Ridge.  Meet at Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00, or at the parking area at the top of Broadwell  to set out at 1:15.

Tuesday, September 30th
HIKE – Kees Ruurs will lead a hike in Howard Horel and Andreas Vogt Nature Reserves.   Meet at ArtSpring to carpool, departing at 9:40, or at the trailhead on Mereside Rd to set out at 10:00

WALK –  We will take a moderate walk on the Reginald Hill Conservation Area where you will designate a leader Lunch at the lookout. The trail is a steady gradual climb through the forest. Meet at ArtSpring for 10:00 am departure or at the intersection of Bridgeman and Clarinda Roads at 10:20 am. Park on Clarinda Road.

Sunday, October 5th
HIKE – Hope Hill with a difference.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00 or at Drummond Park to consolidate vehicles at 1:15 before setting out to the trailhead on Musgrave Road.

Tuesday, October 7th
HIKE – Susan Hannon will lead a hike on Reginald Hill starting at the parking area at the end of Morningside, then taking the NCC land trail to Clarinda, then along Menhinick to the Tsawout reserve and back along Reginald Hill Rd to the parking. A steep section to start.  Meet at ArtSpring to carpool, departing at 9:40, or at the parking area at the end of Morningside to set out at 10:00

Sunday, October 12th
HIKE – Burgoyne Bay trails 22 and 23.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00 pm or at the trailhead at Burgoyne Bay to set out at 1:15.

Tuesday, October 14th
HIKE – Ashley Hilliard will lead a hike into Mt Maxwell park starting from Lee Road. Some steep sections.  Meet at ArtSpring to carpool departing at 09:40, or join at starting point on Lee Road, just off the Fulford- Ganges Road, to set out at 10:00.

Sunday, October 19th
HIKE – Howard Horel and Andreas Vogt Conservation Areas.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00 pm or at the trailhead on Mereside Rd to set out at 1:15.

Tuesday, October 21st
HIKE – Bob Keates will lead a hike to Stocking Lake and Heart Lake, 9.3 km, 310 m ascent (a different route from last spring). Meet at Portlock Park to consolidate vehicles, departing at 8:40 before driving onto the 9:35 ferry to Crofton. Drive to Ladysmith, turning off the Trans-Canada at Davis Rd North next to the Plaza with Dairy Queen and Coop gas.  Park at a pullout area at the beginning of Battie Drive (2nd right on Davis Rd after the DQ/Coop plaza).

Sunday, October 26th Chris Hatfield trail.  Meet at ArtSpring to car pool, departing at 1:00 pm or at the trailhead on Meyer Rd to set out at 1:20.

Tuesday, October 28th Jack Little will lead a hike starting at the Dunbabin trail, but continuing to Trincomali.  Meet at ArtSpring to carpool, departing at 9:45, or at the trailhead on Robinson Rd (about 200 m before the junction with Starks Rd and Walkers Hook Rd) to set out at 10:00. Parking is limited at the Dunbabin trailhead, so carpooling is advised.
