A short steep section to start, but mostly gentle slopes thereafter. Meet at ArtSpring to car-pool, departing at 9:45 or at 10:00 at the junction of Seymour Heights and Armand Way. There we will car-pool further before proceeding to the trailhead at Seymour Heights where parking is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n WALK – <\/strong> Joy and Angie will lead a walk on Trincomali Heights. This will be a leisurely walk along trails and some quiet roads at the top of Trincomali, after which you will eat your lunch on Joy\u00b4s deck. We pass through the Howard Horel Conservation area (short steep sections), through the crown land to Andreas Vogt to a viewpoint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday, May 19th<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Nature Outing for Hikers & Walkers.<\/strong> low Tide Beach Walk from Drummond Park to the Clam Gardens on the Isabella Point (west side) of Fulford Harbour with biologist Dave Secord.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n We have updated the timing and gathering place for the beach walk to the Fulford Clam Garden. The change gives more time to explore diverse intertidal areas at low tide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The walk will begin at Hamilton Beach at 11 am. Leave ArtSpring at 10:30 or meet at Drummond Park at 10:50 to carpool. Parking is very limited at the beach so please fill all cars before leaving Drummond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hamilton Beach is about 1 1\/2 km from Drummond Park, where Isabella Point Rd is close to the shore. A sailboat has been abandoned on the beach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The walk starts along wet sand but will also cross cobble sized rocks. Our guides, Dave and Amy, will point out interesting discoveries along the way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wear water proof or mud resistant, sturdy footwear. A beach walk can be very exposed to wind and sun. Bring plenty of water and sun protection. Lunch will be on the shore below the Ruby Alton Nature Reserve, after which we will continue to the clam gardens. Low tide is at 1:30 pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Depending on how far we wander, the total distance is about 3 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sunday, May 24th<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n HIKE – <\/strong>Burgoyne Bay trails 22, 23 and 21: meet at ArtSpring to car pool departing at 1:00, or at the trailhead in Burgoyne Bay to set out at 1:20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tuesday, May 26th<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n HIKE – <\/strong>Bob Keates will lead a hike on Hope Hill with a difference. Steep in parts, 320 m elevation gain. Rough trail due to deadfall and erosion. We will gain the second summit of Hope Hill, then descend a bit to a viewpoint for lunch. Poles suggested for the steep sections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n WALK – <\/strong>Alison will lead a walk on to the top of Mount Erskine from the Trustees Trail entrance with lunch at the top. Meet at ArtSpring at 10:00 to carpool to the Vesuvius ferry and catch the 10:50 boat to Crofton then drive to the Golf Course parking lot on Henry Road.
Leave cars there and ramble along the Multi Purpose Trail as far as we want then
back to our cars and drive to the Owl\u2019s Nest Restaurant in Chemainus for lunch.
Options for return ferry from Crofton are 12:55 or 2:20. I need to know if you plan to join us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
